March 2009

Handler Mr Dougie Galbraith of Comrie, Perthshire holding the Lyn Lewis trophy was placed fourth with Denwyn Jac out of Ffan ( J Rees-Denman ) & Kit ( R. P Dean ).  As written in the ISDS March/April 2009 issue: Denwyn Jac the only dog of the top four not of the handler's bloodlines, was bought from Andy Carnegie at eight months.  " He was a bit of a terrorist then, but he has settled down," Dougie said.  Jac attracted attention from spectators who admired his strength and working potential.  He left Dougie's feet a little square, but widened out.  The sheep took off at speed from the lift and it took Jac some time to take control of them.  They had wavered from line before that happened and the fetch was spoiled, but Jac managed to put them through the gate and made better work of the latter part of the fetch, but the turn round Dougie's feet was a little wide and impacted on the start of the first leg of the drive, but once Jac found his stride he took control of the sheep, drove them and turned them neatly through both gates and across the course. Very good work at hand finished the run on a high note in fourth place  with 85 points.  As the highest pointed competitor never to have run at a National, Dougie won the Lyn Lewis trophy.
